50th Birthday Phrases

50th Birthday PhrasesBirthdays, Anniversaries and Birthdays - When is officially "on the hill"?
"Over the Hill" is a colloquialism used for the very simple term, "old." Where did this language come good? It may not be known with certainty, but the expression may be an I c the that the graveyards in the past were often built on hills overlooking the lowland towns and villages. Therefore, someone who had died was buried somewhere on this hill. The idiom "on the hill" has been adapted and is now common in English we age. Another possibility is that the first part of his life to move upstream, because you are young and have plenty of time to explore life, explore the world and everything but once you've done all that and you're on top, that's all, then down, which suggests that you are "on the hill."

I think the age that one feels or becomes the "hill" is different for each individual. I am 21 years until my 18th birthday, I was sure of my 30th birthday I'd old, on the hill, and my parents, who are 41 years and 44 years at the time, were definitely past it. Now that I'm gradually approaching thirty years, the goal post for me is changing with anything from 40 years currently classified as "hill". You see the 40th anniversary, the 50th anniversary and 60th birthday greetings cards in card shops littered with jokes about being "on the hill 'and' past it '. Do these jovial remarks that after the age of thirty -nine, you can not get the most out of life?

I asked friends and family what they thought:

"60th or 65th birthday - Just because it's the normal age of retirement. Really good, I think being on the hill has more to do with the mental capacity of a person of their age. I know some of 80 years old who still has all the figures, and about 40 who are senile enough already! "

A neighbor told me that 'I had [him] 50 years to look this good! - I guess he did not believe it's over the hill yet.

I conducted a survey, some policyholders had to decide whether they think they counted the following as birthdays on the hill.

Anniversary - on the hill?

Research shows that men in today's society live up to the age of 76 and women at the age of 81 against 66 and 71 respectively during the 1950s. This is a dramatic increase in life expectancy average is a 10 grand more years in just 60 years, thanks to the development of medicine and technology. So, in theory, being 40 years is only halfway through the life of today, instead of two-thirds life 60 years ago. In conclusion: people used to have shorter lifespan of 60 years or so ago, living on average at age 66 (men) and 71 (women). Age, one would feel or be considered old at that time would be younger than in today's society where people live to age 76 (men) and 81 (women). When, therefore, is an official on the hill? Ask the people and taking into account my opinion, I think everything is about perception, you're on the hill where you feel and think you're too old to live life fully.
