RAM or Random Access Memory is critical to gaming laptops. Mainly because the more RAM you have on your computer or laptop, the higher the level of performance you can achieve. Higher RAM will increase your enjoyment and you can play, even the most challenging 3D games.

Besides the CPU (Central Processing Unit) of RAM is probably the most vital that you have in your laptop or computer. Like you can not have enough money, so you can not have enough RAM. More the merrier. The more RAM you have, the more your computer will perform.

Most serious players know their RAM. They know the difference between static and dynamic RAM. Many can even tell you how SIMM, DIMM and memory modules SO-DIMM are different from each other. Moreover, they are all aware of the importance of VRAM or VideoRam to operate their laptop gaming. Above all, they know that their graphics cards or GPUs (Graphics Processing Units).

Firstly, you need to know, RAM is probably the best known form or type of computer memory. Second, RAM is very important in how your computer can perform the tasks you ask it to do. The more RAM you have, the computing tasks more programs you can run at a given time.

You should not make the mistake that players are concerned enough RAM, professionals who work with large graphics such as video editors, architects, designers, Web designers ... are also very aware of the importance of having enough RAM to do the job. Keep in mind, computer technology advancing at a blistering rate and is in constant evolution. Overseeing all of these industry standards and technology is JEDEC, which acts as a regulatory body for the semiconductor industry. Hey, someone has to keep track of all these forms of RAM!

Basically, you have two types of RAM - Static RAM (SRAM), which is faster and more expensive than dynamic RAM (DRAM). Like their name suggests, dynamic RAM is constantly refreshing and is slower and less expensive than Static RAM.

Static RAM is mainly used to cache this kind in your cache sensitive to processor speed.

What confuses most people is the whole or types of dynamic RAM, with more development as we speak. To complicate the matter even further is the development of RAM for laptops that need smaller and more compact memory modules.

Some types of RAM, you may or may not have seen or heard about:

FPM DRAM - which stands for "Fast Page Mode Dynamic Random Access Memory" and was the original form of DRAM. It has a maximum transfer rate of about 176 Mb / s in the L2 cache, and if you are wondering what is level 2 cache, that cache memory located outside the processor chip. Level 1 refers to the processor's internal cache.

EDO DRAM - which stands for "Extended Data-Out Dynamic Random Access Memory" and is about 5% faster than FPM DRAM. The transfer rate is about 264 MB / s L2 cache.

SDRAM - which stands for "Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory" is very common in today's computers. Transfer rate maxes out at about 528 MB / s.

DDR SDRAM - which stands for "Double Data Rate Synchronous Dynamic RAM is similar to SDRAM, but has a greater bandwidth, allowing for greater speed. Transfer rate of L2 cache is approximately 1,064 MBps.

DDR2 SDRAM - which means "double-data-rate Two Synchronous Dynamic RAM, uses the external data bus twice as fast as DDR SDRAM.

DDR3 SDRAM - which stands for "double data rate synchronous dynamic RAM Three" and is an improvement over DDR2 SDRAM. DDR3 allows for chip capacities of 512 megabytes to 8 gigabytes, giving you the maximum memory size Module 16 gigabytes enormous.
