What Cartoon gets the most credit for pushing the boundaries of creativity? The Simpsons or Beavis and Butt-Head? We have a bunch of subversive designs of those days. Family Guy, Futurama, South Park, almost all Adult Swim.
So who really opened the floodgates for such animated TV content? The Simpsons or Beavis and Butt-Head? Or there are others that I miss?
There will never be an American animated bigger and more influential than the Simpsons. The Simpsons finally paved the way for other shows, and yet still more guarded and more successful.
Twenty-one years is a ridiculously awesome for any kind of show, but I think for an American show on the fact that it is animated makes this doubly impressive feat. I guarantee that there would be very few American adults interested in Family Guy, American Dad, South Park, and others if they had not first watched The Simpsons.
The Simpsons because the air were allowed to primetime, and was able to show people the air in this time slot. Beavis and Butt always played very late at night and has never been allowed during the hours of television prime time.
