How can we celebrate the lives of great musicians, who died this year? Firstly, it is the classical music section, so no, I do not talk about Michael Jackson.
David Soyer died today, the day after his 87th birthday. He is the cellist of the Guarneri String Quartet. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/27/arts/m ...

I played for her students in their classes. It was a great musician and a funny man, insists that I looked Southeast Asian and non-Chinese.
Earl Wild, pianist, died in January. http://www.earlwild.com/

I saw his recital at Carnegie at the age of 90 or 91. New York Times called "a geriatric miracle."
Unfortunately, unless musicians like the ones you mentioned are popular / general public, the work of their lives do not receive much recognition. When Pavorati (which was extremely popular) died I believe their was a large televised concert commemorating him and his career. Hopefully the local musicians who have worked with these artists put on a sort of memorial concert or something to devote to them.
