Vishu Kani Vishu is one of the two major festival celebrated in Kerala. Another major festival is Onam, which is regarded as the festival of the state of Kerala. Consider Vishu the Malayali New Year (astrological New Year) in Kerala. Since Vishu is the start of next year's population believe that the beginning of the day has significant importance for the next twelve months. Consequently, the newspapers publish forecasts Malayalam Vishu and astrological forecast for next 12 months.
According to Hindu astrology Vishu is the day when the Sun enters Rasi Medam and consider it as a new solar year (April 14 or 15). If you see the Malayalam calendar the new year starts from Chingam (mid-August), but people never give this important day. It is regarded as just one day the new month.

Vishu Kani is the most important thing of Vishu. Kani: the first sight. Therefore, we consider that the first thing you see on one day decide your day. Similarly, the first thing you see on New Year will decide the luck and prosperity for your new year ahead. So see things bode well in the morning as the first Vishu for the day is known as Vishu Kani
To this day forward Vishu, people make a special preparation to see Vishu Kani in the morning of Vishu. It consists of flowers Gods Image, gold, silver, fruits, rice, new fabric, and the lamp Hindu etc.
How to prepare for Vishu Kani
Prepare a clean plate, which is normally using Poona. You can also use Uruli which is a plate as done in bronze. Organize your favorite picture of God in this regard. Normally, people still picture or statue of Lord Krishna Krishna therefor. Lord Krishna was an important part of Vishu Kani other gods. Even other devotees of Lord Krishna statue Vishu Kani keep.
Another important thing is main Konna Poove (Indian Laburnum), which is available free on the Vishu season everywhere in Kerala. People believe that the days of old Konna never use to bloom, like a tree without Konna is normal flowers. Unnikannan Once upon a time (regardless of Krishna) in love with a poor Brahmin boy and started playing with him the afternoon before Krishna temple after the priest returned home at midday. The Brahmin boy used to come every afternoon day playing with Krishna not knowingly that the boy is Lord Krishna himself. One day, little Krishna delivered his only padswaram (bracelet on the leg) to the Brahmin boy. That night the day when the priest returned to the temple because he was afraid one of padaswaram gold was missing from the statue of Krishna. He informed all the people and finally found the boy with padaswaram Brahmin who played with her.
People accused him of stealing padaswaram temple. Even after telling a boy that gave the people never thought padaswaram since nobody has ever seen or known a boy from the description Brahmin boy. Unable to resist the humiliation he threw the strap around the tree (Konna tree) in tears. Once the bracelet fell on the tree, the bracelet has turned into a flower that looks like a bracelet. As people have realized that the mysterious man was none other than Lord Krishna. Begged forgiveness from the Lord Krishna and Brahman in the boy who had the chance to see Krishna. That date Konna flowering began and people consider that the flower is auspicious and dear to Krishna.
Another thing to Vishu Kani is rice (for prosperity), gold, silver (coins and banknotes), new tissue.
